Not good news about the future of our favourite track. It appears that CALA have gone begging to Stratford-on-Avon District Council for money to make the high pressure gas main safe and clear up some of the dodgy substances they have discovered on-site (didn’t affect our barbecues and don’t remember seeing 2-headed sheep!). It will also pay for some of the investment in the road network. Looks like the planning application at the end of May is a rubber stamp exercise and the implication of that, as it stands, is that current access to the strip may be denied as this is ear-marked for a cycle path to the ‘StratfordGreenway’.
We haven’t given up hope of racing at Shakey this year so watch this space and keep everything crossed.
